Well, now the IPL is over, Indian government should feel ashamed. I am not much interested in watching or keeping IPL Updates. But after watching the closing ceremony of IPL 2 yesterday, I felt that Indian government should feel guilty of not being able to hold IPL in their own country.
If India had a near perfect excuse of ongoing elections for not holding IPL here, then South Africa also was having its elections at the same time. But never during the matches it felt, that there was a lack of preparation on part of SA for the IPL matches. Infact the stadiums remained crowded, security near perfect and an enthusiastic audience. And in between, TOI carried a photo of people voting in SA where the queue shown had almost 4-5 loops and stretched upto a distance of what looked like a more than a kilometre.
And then there is India where Indians have hardly any interest in politics or voting despite so many voting campaigns. Despite the fact that Cricket is worshipped next to God in India. Despite the fact that holding elections and IPL at the same time would have improved the reputation of India a lot especially in the current scenario when our nearest neighbour Pakistan is the most dreaded destination for playing Cricket and for the upcoming Cricket world cup which was being held by India – Pakistan jointly. Pakistan is now out of the race for it but by not holding the IPL here, Indian government showed their lack of confidence in our own armed forces and put up a shameful face of shifting the IPL venue in front of the world and especially ICC.
Well, finally Indian goverment should take few lessons from SA Government and their management.
